The theory of stacks is important for the study of moduli problems. Examples include the stack of genus g curves, principal G-bundles, and quotient stacks. The purpose of this seminar is to learn the foundations of algebraic stacks, mainly following Olsson’s book Algebraic Spaces and Stacks. Later in the semester we might dive into other topics such as higher stacks or computing the Picard group of the stack of elliptic curves.
